Hugh Edward “Dr. J” Faulkner Jones

Hugh Edward “Dr. J” Faulkner Jones, Ph.D, 75, of Lansing, Mich., formerly of Holly Springs, died Sept. 23, 2018, in Lansing. He attended Rosenwald Elementary School in Holly Springs. He received the Ph.D. in 1975. He was a psychologist in the steelcase industry, was assistant Sunday school superintendent, sang in gospel choirs and was a member of Trinity AME Church.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 at Ayers Cemetery in Lake Center. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral  Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his partner, Jim Ferguson; two sons, Gilbert Jones (Josie) of Phoenix, Ariz., Derrick Jones (Ann) of Lansing; siblings, Herbert L. Jones of Kansas City, Mo., Ted S. Jones (Velma) of Kansas City, Kan., Thomas Allen Jones of Carson, Calif., Jerry S. Jones Sr. (Sherry) of Kansas City, Kan., Marilee Jones-Cofield of Carson, Elizabeth Jones Swenson (Lloyd) of Aurora, Colo.; the mother of his sons, Vernell “Vee” Jones; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
