Hickory Flat, Byhalia split games

Three Hickory Flat Lady Rebels combined for 43 points as the team went on the road and defeated Byhalia 58-36 Thursday night of last week.

Ella Hoyle was the top gun as she drilled five threes and finished with 18 points. Layla Hall added 15 and Olivia Robertson 10.

The board work was led by Abby Rowland’s 11 rebounds.

Hickory Flat stormed out of the starting gate for a 19-2 lead after one quarter and stayed on cruise control from there.

Madilian Harris was Byhalia’s leading scorer with 18, half of her team’s points.

The second game of the night went to the home team as the Indians pulled away in the second half for an 88-55 win over the Rebels.

Hitting in double digits for Byhalia were Joshuon Turner and Jalen Muse, both with 16 points. Adonis Anthony followed with nine.

The Indians were up 38-30 at the halfway point and doubled up the Rebels 50-25 in the second half.

Kason Owen led Hickory Flat with 16 points.

Byhalia teams play at Rosa Fort on Friday, Jan. 16. Next Tuesday, Jan. 20, they host Senatobia. Hickory Flat squads host West Union on Friday, Jan. 16. The Lady Rebels will play in the Grind 2 Shine Classic at Brilliant, Ala., on Saturday, Jan. 17. Next Tuesday, Jan. 20, Hickory Flat teams host Mantachie.
