Gwendolyn Lynette Pegues Toombs

Gwendolyn Lynette Pegues Toombs, 61, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Oct. 28, 2018, at her home. She was employed in customer service at First Tennessee Bank. She was a member of her church’s benevolence committee, Sunday school, the Condolence Committee, Deeper U Bible Study, and was a 1979 graduate of Rust College and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Visitation will be held Nov. 3 from 3-7 p.m., and with the family from 6-7 p.m., and on Nov. 4 from 12 noon to 12:55 p.m. at the church.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Brown Baptist Church in Southaven, where she was a member. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Bartholomew Orr will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, John H. Toombs; a son, Jonathan Elliot Toombs of Memphis; two stepdaughters, Tamon Toombs, Erica Toombs, both of Yazoo City; three sisters, Dorothy Pegues Malone of Memphis, Beverly Cobbs of Chicago, Ill., Minnie Rice of Plainfield, Ill; a brother, Roger Pegues of Chicago; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Davis Wayne Pegues.
