George Davis, 87, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Byhalia, died Oct. 9, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was a member of Liberty Hill MB Church in Byhalia. He was a retired foreman at Jordan’s Lumber Co. in Memphis. Visitation will be held Oct. 14 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. until 10:55 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Family Cemetery in Byhalia. He leaves four daughters, Emma Jean Jamison of Chicago, Ill., Linda Muhammad of Memphis, Sandra Williamson of Holly Springs, Jennifer Davis of Olive Branch; two sons, Morece Davis Sr., Clarence Davis, both of Byhalia; three sisters, Louise Johnson of Sunnyvale, Calif., Lelar Stewart, Mae Willie Davis, both of Memphis; a brother, L.C. Davis of Memphis; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by children Annie Dorris and Jerome Gathings.
