Frances Ola Gipson Lawshe

Frances Ola Gipson "Big Doll" Lawshe, 89, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Slayden, died July 23, 2025, at her granddaughter's home in Arlington, Tenn. She was of the Catholic Faith and a retired educator with the Memphis Shelby County Schools.

A memorial service will be held on August 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 305 E. Van Dorn Avenue. J.F Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her grandchildren and caregivers, Natasha Gipson of Virginia Beach, Va. and Arlington, Kelvin Gipson of Holly Springs, Santee L. Gipson of Virginia Beach; sisters, Gloria Gipson Suggs of Holly Springs, Revelyn Coleman of Memphis, Evelyn Cummings, Lou Boykins, both of Slayden; brothers, Clinton Gipson of Slayden, Quentell Gipson of Holly Springs; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Guy L. Gipson; siblings, Elisha Gipson, Knowledge Gipson, Alva Gipson, Shelby Gipson, Sam Percy Gipson Jr., Naomi Murphy, Grace Harvey, Queenie Gipson and Clifford Gipson.
