Eugene Anderson Jr.

Eugene Anderson Jr., 79, of Holly Springs, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died May 5, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Anderson Chapel CME Church where he was also the janitorial clerk and lawn clerk, member of the men’s ministry and men’s choir. He was in construction for over 40 years and then he become a foreman. After retiring he returned to Holly Springs to start his own landscaping business.

Visitation will be held May 12, from 2-7 p.m. and with the family from 6-7 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home and at Anderson Chapel on May 13 from 9 a.m.-9:55 a.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on May 13 with Rev. William S. Banks officiating. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden.

He leaves his wife, Cozette Avery Anderson of Holly Springs; nine children, Ruth Kinnie of Natchez, David Anderson (Cheryl) of Calumet Park, Ill., Alex Anderson of Lakeland, Fla., Betty Graves, James Anderson (Melissa), and Gerald Anderson, all of Chicago, Belinda Mitchell (Timothy) of Harvey, Ill., Yvette Jackson of Paducah, Ky., Barbara Anderson (Baker) of Iowa; three siblings, Clemmie McFadden and Amanda Scales of Holly Springs, James Henry Anderson (Carlene) of Evanston, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children, Eugene Anderson III and Gloria Chatman; five siblings, Emma Ruth Martin, Ola Anderson, Charlene Gulledge, Albert Anderson, and Rosie Lee Luellen.
