Emilio Mendoza Canelo

Emilio Mendoza Canelo, 49, of Byhalia, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at his home. He enjoyed working on antique vehicles and was an avid fan of television programs including "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers."

Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St. in Holly Springs. Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 5, at Pleasant Hill C.M.E. Church in Holly Springs. Burial followed at Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in New Albany.

He leaves his mother, M. Consuela Mendoza of Wisconsin; his significant other, Turesia Dowdy of Byhalia; one daughter, Selena Mendoza of Wisconsin; a stepson, Don Dowdy Jr.; five brothers, Gonzalo Mendoza Canelo, Efrain Mendoza Canelo, Juan Carlos Mendoza Canelo, and Jose Guadalupe Mendoza Canelo, all of Wisconsin, and Jaime Mendoza Canelo of Bryan, Texas; two sisters, Ana Tirado and Esther Torres, both of Texas; and two close friends, Don Dowdy of Byhalia and Michael Craig of Holly Springs.
