Edward “Sonny” Holder Bounds Jr.

Edward “Sonny” Holder Bounds Jr. passed away October 15, 2016. Born October 7, 1937, in Oxford, Mississippi, he was the son of Mildred Williams Bounds and Edward Holder Bounds Sr. After graduating from University High School in Oxford, Mississippi, Sonny received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi, was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and actively served in the National Guard. He married Jo Ann Buford of Holly Springs on August 21, 1960. Sonny had a distinguished business career. He and his wife Jo Ann owned and operated Buford Furniture Company for over 38 years. Sonny and Jo Ann lived in Holly Springs about 40 years, where they were members of First United Methodist Church. Sonny was a devoted family man who was an avid golfer, enjoyed cooking and loved Ole Miss football. Visitation was held Tuesday, October 18, 2016, beginning at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Services followed at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Dalton officiating. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jo Ann Buford Bounds; his children, Edward Kilgore Bounds, Leanne Bounds Greer; his grandchildren Jennifer Greer McCullar, John Greer, and Anne Greer; one great-grandchild Hilton McCullar; and younger brother, Ronnie Bounds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Williams Bounds, Edward Holder Bounds Sr.; Edith Wilkerson, stepmother; Lola Bounds, grandmother, and Jessie Bounds, grandfather, Honorary pallbearers included Chester Wiseman, James Crouch, James Huggins, Angelo Mistillus, Tripp McCullar, John Robert Greer Sr., John Greer and Welles Anderson.
