Dr. Reginald M. Peyton
Dr. Reginald M. Peyton, 74, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2023.
Born Nov. 27, 1948, in Holly Springs, to the late Leonard and Lirlene Peyton, Reginald was the youngest of two children from this union. Reginald and his surviving brother, Oliver Peyton Sr., grew up in Holly Springs, and were reared in their Catholic faith by their grandparents, the late Phalen and Gertrude White. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and St. Mary's Church from elementary to high school. Reginald was baptized on May 20, 1966, at St. Mary's Church.
After completing high school, Reginald moved to Memphis, Tenn., and attended Christian Brothers University. He worked and joined the Army National Guard while attending college. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1971. Reginald continued his pursuit of excellence by earning a Master's and Doctorate degrees from the University of Memphis. He was a Professor of Management and Marketing at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn., before retiring to focus on his real estate, daycare, property management, and construction businesses. It was in 1980 that Reginald met his soulmate, his wife, Gloria Smith Peyton. Their journey together was a testament to the power of unwavering love and devotion. Their bond was evident in the countless moments of laughter, shared dreams, and the lifetime of adventures they experienced through their travels.
Leaving behind strong core values, instilling powerful principles, and passing on a lifetime legacy were top priorities for Reginald. His footprint will live on through his children: daughters: Nichelle Morris and Olivia (Antwaun) McDaniel; step-daughters: Veronica Taylor, Cassandra (Ronnie) Wilson, and Patrice (Keith) Curry; step-son: Larry Taylor; nephews: Oliver Peyton Jr., and Reginald Peyton II; nine grandchildren, many loving cousins, staff, mentees, and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. and Rosary from 5:307 p.m. Wednesday, August 9 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1169 Kerr Ave., Memphis, Tenn.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, August 10 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. E.H. Ford Funeral Home of Memphis, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.
