Dr. Arvern Moore

Dr. Arvern Moore, 81, of Holly Springs, died August 2, 2017, at his home. The former director of ICS Head Start, he was with Head Start for 40 years. He was a member of Anderson Chapel CME Church, where he started and taught the young adult Sunday school class and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Visitation will be Aug. 11 from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home and Aug. 12 from 10-10:55 a.m. at Doxey Auditorium at Rust College.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. William S. Banks will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Anita Walton Moore; two children, Dr. Angela Moore of  Memphis, Tenn., Charles Moore of Holly Springs; two sisters, Shirley Moore Totten of Olive Branch, Dorothy Pegues of Collierville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Holly Moore McMiller, Halle Moore McMiller, both of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Vern Moore Jr.
