Dorothy (Foster) Whittington

Dorothy (Foster) Whittington, died November 2, at the age of 87 at Presbyterian Village Healthcare Center in Little Rock, Ark.

Dorothy was born March 1, 1931, in Union County, Miss. She was the daughter of Jack and Minnie Raines. She attended Macedonia High School. Dorothy married Cleve D. Foster on Christmas Day, 1948. She was the mother of six children and loved being a homemaker and wife. Dorothy loved going to church and was in ministry most of her life. She loved people and had a soft-spoken kindness that would light up a room.

Cleve Foster preceded her in death on April 3, 1976. Her world seemed empty until she married Rev. Howard Whittington in Dec. 1995. He brought laughter and joy back into her life.

She attended Bethlehem Church of The Lord Jesus Christ under the ministry of Rev. J Frank Wilson, Rev. Steve Wilson, and Rev. Jon Vazquez. She attended Levy Pentecostal Church, in North Little Rock, Ark., where Rev. Howard Whittington pastored.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay McArthur, age 51; a grandson, Matthew McArthur; parents, Jack and Minnie Raines; sister, Bettie Joe Wells; and her brother, Arnold Raines.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Howard Whittington; four sons, Gary (Teresa) Foster in Byhalia, Miss., Phillip Foster in North Little Rock, Ark., John (Sharon) Foster in Vilonia, Ark., Ronnie (Lisa) Foster in Kokomo, Ind.; and one daughter, Rita (Bennie) Cook of Potts Camp, Miss.; a son-in-law, Steve McArthur of Enola, Ark.; two stepsons, Richard (Regina) Whittington and Ted (Anita) Whittington, both of North Little Rock, Ark. She leaves two brothers, Dorman (Vivian) Raines in Camp Verde, Ariz., and Durl (Faye) Raines in Batesville, Miss.; and one sister, Mary Ann Loper in Concord, NC.

She leaves 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

I can hear her say, “I have all that I need here and Heaven hereafter. How much richer could anybody want to be?”

Services for Dorothy were held Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with a visitation at the Church also Tuesday from 9                 a.m. until service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
