Dempsey Lee Bowen

Dempsey Lee Bowen, 69, of Waterford, died July 31, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch. He was a retired truck driver for Hernando Redi-Mix Concrete Company. He was a member of Rising Star MB Church.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 4 at Royston Chapel CME Church in Benton County. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor Gwendolyn Nelson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his fiancée Doris Byers of Waterford; six sons, Duffie Bowen of Springfield, Mo., Dempsey Bowen of New Albany, Danny Hankins, Maurice Campbell, both of Holly Springs, Jessie Frank Hankins of Three Rivers, Mich., Douglas Bowen of Aurora, Ill.; a daughter, Kimberly Reed of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepchildren, Rosezettia Humphery, Lecittia Humphery, both of Waterford; eight sisters, Shirley Bowen, Delories Taylor, Sara Reliford, Sedella Reliford, Joyce Bell, all of Holly Springs, Sandra Sanders of Lamar, Elizabeth Hurbs, Sandra Perry, both of Memphis; five brothers, David Bowen of Holly Springs, Bryan Bowen of Memphis, Coleman Bowen Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Randy Bowen of Baltimore, Md., Alonzo Farrow of Nashville, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Katina Tallie and Patricia Bowen.
