Daniel Vernon Cooper

Daniel Vernon Cooper was born on April 7, 1935, in Potts Camp, MS. Dan (as he was known to his friends and family), passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on May 7, 2022, in Potts Camp, MS.

Dan was a 1953 graduate of Potts Camp High School. After high school Dan owned and operated a cotton gin with his father. He and his brothers hauled brick for 34 years for Holly Springs Brick and Tile. He later established Cooper Truck Line of Holly Springs, MS. He was also a lifelong farmer.

He married Billie Brownlee Cooper on December 1, 1956. They lived in the Cornersville, MS community where they raised their five children. He was a life-long member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved the Lord and he loved his family.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Everett Cooper; his brothers, Doyle Cooper and Joe Cooper; his sister, June Haynes; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Billie Cooper; sons, Tim Cooper (Donna) of Holly Springs, MS; Tom Cooper (Jan), Brad Cooper, all of Potts Camp; daughters, Teresa Hall (Ronnie) of Demopolis, AL, and Lisa Vaughn (Robert) of Memphis, Tenn. He also leaves 12 cherished grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Josh Cooper, Everett Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Daniel Hall, Cooper Vaughn, Hayden Hall, Spencer Vaughn, Dalton Cooper and Robbie Smith.

The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.

Services for Mr. Cooper will be on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Salem Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with a burial to follow at Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Holly Springs Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 5-8 p.m.
