Cresie Scott Benford

Cresie Scott Benford, 96, of Byhalia, died August 12, 2021, at home in the Cayce community. She was a member of Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria and was a retired teacher for ICS Headstart.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Aug. 21 from 12-3 p.m. A private graveside service will be held. Pastor Curtis Nelson will officiate.

She leaves three daughters, Georgia Benford Nicholas of Byhalia, Arleaner Smith of Collierville, Tenn., Lotsa Wright of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Robert Benford of Zephyrhills, Fla., Milton Benford of Byhalia; sister-in-law, Laverne Jones of Chulahoma; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Anderson Benford; siblings, Maxine Fant, Catherine Bowling, Della Garrison, Mary Hale, Charlie Scott, Eddie Scott and Mose Scott Sr.
