Clara Mae Martin Scruggs

Clara Mae Martin Scruggs, 92, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Dec. 29, 2016, at her home. The widow of Marshall Scruggs, she was a retired self-employed store owner and a member of Yarbrough Chapel CME Church.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the funeral home and on Jan. 14 from 10-10:55 a.m. at the church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs with burial in Yarbrough Chapel Church Cemetery. Rev. David Hoey will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Martha Mae Richmond of Whitehouse, Texas, Martha B. Jamison of Chicago; a son, Robert Curtis Scruggs of New Albany; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Marshall Scruggs Jr.
