Charles Edward Skelton

Charles Edward Skelton, 77, resident of Holly Springs, passed away peacefully Monday, January 9, 2023, at his home following an extended illness.

Graveside Services honoring Charles life were held at 12 noon, Thursday January 12, 2023, at Boot Hill Cemetery located at 1389 Allen Corner Rd., Lamar, MS 38642.

Charles was born April 13, 1945 in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Winford and Lavenia Ford Allen and he received his education from Slayden High School. He was a self employed truck driver for forty years where he was blessed with the opportunity to make his passion a career.

Watching drag racing and keeping up with the worldly news were favorite pastimes. He was a very simple man who enjoyed nothing better than being behind the wheel and on the road. He made an honest living and loved to spend his earnings, especially on his siblings. Family was everything to Charles and he made sure to check on them daily. He knew it's not what we have in life, but who we have matters most. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memories include two sisters, Carolyn Thompson and Virginia Byrd; three brothers, Winford Joseph Allen(Marty), William Logan Allen(Judy) and Johnny Allen(Sherry); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Skelton; and a sister, Mary Cothern.
