Channie Mary Malone Grimes

Channie Mary Malone Grimes, 71, of Southaven, died August 3, 2021, at Baptist Memorial HospitalDeSoto in Southaven. She was formerly of Holly Springs and Aurora, Ill. She was a member of The Healing Cathedral Christian Church in Memphis, Tenn., and a retired cashier for J.C. Penney Company.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 9 at The Healing Cathedral Christian Church. Pastor Tyrone Hunt officiated. Burial was in New Hope MB Church Cemetery in Laws Hill. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Angela Shorter of Southaven, Alisa C. Grimes of Yorkville, Ill., Shayla Grimes of Aurora; two sons, John A. Grimes (Renee) of Sugar Grove, Ill., Walter Jackson (Jade) of Virginia; four sisters, Mable Lester of Corinth, Earlene Hearn of Holly Springs, Virginia Ivy (Samuel) of Southaven, Deneice Finley of Irving, Texas; sister-in-law, Viola Malone of Waterford; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Grimes; sister, Josie L. Malone; brothers, Joseph Richmond, Ezekiel Malone Jr. and Eugene Malone.
