Celestine Scales Royston

Celestine Scales Royston, 100, of Benton County, died August 30, 2021, at her home. She was a member of Mt. Zion CME Church where she served as church stewardess and Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Church Missionary Society. She was a homemaker.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Royston Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Rev. Calvin Davis officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Nestelynn L. Garrett of Detroit, Mich., Jacquelynn A. Royston of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Homer Royston of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Scales; children, Sydney Wayne Royston, John Willis Royston, Deloris Minor; siblings, Detrice Trice, Oweda Higgenbottom, Mae Louis Henley, Roy Scales, James Scales and Julius Caesar.
