Bessie Veola Cowan
Bessie Veola Cowan, 92, of Holly Springs, died December 2, 2024, at her home. She was a member of Strawberry MB Church where she served as an usher and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star and a retired social worker with Marshall County government.
Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Dec. 11 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and on Dec. 12 at Strawberry MB Church from 10-10:55 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Rev. Frederick Fluker Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She leaves her daughters, Patricia Harris, Linda Gail Cowan, both of Holly Springs, Dorothy Marie Oliver of Cordova, Tenn., Linda Joyce Thomas of Olive Branch, Sandra Dawkins of Waterford; sons, Cliff Cowan III, of Holly Springs, Roger Cowan of Hinesville, Ga., Michael Cowan, Jackie Cowan, both of Holly Springs; 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Cowan II; children, Betty Jean Cowan, Curtis Cowan; siblings, Russell Crane, Ladell Crane, William Crane, Lilton Crane, Annie Mae Crane, Calvin Crane Jr., Emma Hall and Elree Crane.
