Bertha Mae Payne Gipson

Mrs. Bertha Mae Payne Gipson, the daughter of Mrs. Lottie Mae Payne and the late Mr. Fred Payne, was born March 29, 1955. She confessed a belief in Christ at a very early age.

She married the love of her life, the late Guy Gipson, and in this union three children were born.

She graduated with a Bachelor degree in Social Work from Rust College. Bertha worked for several corporations, and later she and her husband became entrepreneurs in Gipson and Sons Fencing, Lawn and Gardening Services.

She was also the caregiver of her mother for many years.

Her outstanding gifts as a landscaper and gardener were immeasurable. These creative ideas were displayed in many yards throughout Tennessee and Mississippi.

Bertha was preceded in death by her father (Fred) and loving husband (Guy). Bertha is lovingly survived by her mother, Lottie Payne; her children: Santee Gipson (Min-Jin) of Virginia, Kelvin Gipson of Holly Springs and Natasha Gipson of Virginia; mother-in-law Frances Lawshe of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren: Santee Jr., Santia, San'Le (deceased), Michayla, Anaya, Jaslyn; and a host of lovely aunts, uncles, and other relatives, and friends.

Services were held at Pleasant Grove MB Red Banks on April 8 at 1 p.m. Burial was at New Hope Red Banks. J.F. Brittenum was in charge of arrangements.
