Berniece Payne Pryor

Berniece Payne Pryor, 89, of Holly Springs, died May 14, 2020, at Alliance HealthCare System. The widow of James Pryor, she was a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church, a former member of Providence MB Church, where she served as church secretary for over 25 years. She was also a former member of Strawberry MB Church, a graduate of Mississippi Industrial College and the University of Mississippi with a Master's degree. She was a retired educator with the Marshall County School System.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 19 at Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Alberoderick Neely officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Cathedral P. Wilkins of Holly Springs; a son, James Pryor Jr. of Holly Springs; two sisters, Datherene Grant of Milwaukee, Wisc., Pauline Day Smith of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a brother, Thomas Hayse Payne of Tupelo; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
