Bernice Chalmers Chairs

Bernice Chalmers Chairs, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, died Jan. 13, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The widow of F.C. Chairs, she was a former choir member and choir president. She was a retired cook at Conwood Cafeteria in Memphis.

Visitation will be held Jan. 20 from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Jan. 21 from 12 noon until 12:55 p.m. at the church.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Pleasant Hill CME Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Cherodrick Jeffries and Rev. Willie Mays will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two grandsons, Rev. Cherodrick Jeffries of Holly Springs, Reggie Jeffries of Olive Branch; two great-grandsons, and a sister, Barbara Jeffries of Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cherita Jeffries.
