Bennie Earl Davis Sr.

Bennie Earl Davis, Sr. (Pop) ended his 85-year journey on this side of heaven February 16, 2021, in Byhalia, MS, his home since 1968. Born May 24, 1935, to Walter and Annie Bertha Davis in Marvell, Ark., Bennie was raised by his grandparents. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, friend, church leader, logger, farmer, Mason, soldier, welder, ironworker, gunsmith, equipment operator, and shop foreman.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years and caretaker since a devastating wreck in 1973, Norma Cahoon Davis; children, Bennie Earl Davis Jr. of Crystal Springs, Miss., Michael Eugene Davis of East Prairie, Mo.; stepchildren, Rufus Ellis Pennington of Byhalia, Miss., Curtis Oldham Pennington of Byhalia, Miss., Brenda Fay (Pennington) Branstetter of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Michael Martin Pennington of Chattanooga, Tenn., many beloved grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by children, Thomas Jasper Davis, Paul Edward Davis, and Sherry Lynn (Davis) Haggins.

The family received friends on Thursday, February 25, beginning at 1 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum Steet, Olive Branch, MS. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.

Food and fellowship were held at Faith Baptist Church, 3964 Hwy. 309 N. in Byhalia after the service.
