Alfred Brantley Wilson

Alfred Brantley Wilson of Red Banks, Mississippi, left this world for his eternal home on February 27, 2023, at the age of 78. Alfred, known to many as Al or Sonny, was born on February 11, 1945, to Rufus Brantley and Hazel Saxon Wilson in Marshall County, Mississippi. Following graduation from Holly Springs High School in 1963, Al received a football scholarship to Northwest Mississippi Community College. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and served a tour of duty in Korea.

Upon completion of his time with the Army, Al joined Delta Airlines, where he worked until retirement in 2000. He was a long-time member of Red Banks Baptist Church.

Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Watkins Wilson; two children, Angela Wilson Bain (Walter) and Jason Brantley Wilson; and one brother, Norman Kent Wilson. He also leaves two grandchildren whom he loved, Anna Lauren Bain and Brooks Alexander Bain. His parents, Rufus and Hazel Wilson, preceded him in death.

Aside from his love of sports, Al also enjoyed busying himself with gardening, engine repairs, hunting, small carpentry projects, fishing, and working crossword puzzles. He loved visiting with friends and never met a stranger.

Services were held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Holly Springs Funeral Home, with Brother Danny Worsham officiating. Al was laid to rest at Red Banks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or Red Banks Cemetery.
