Melberter Smith, 81, died Oct. 8, 2026, in Germantown, Tennessee.

Visitation was Friday, Oct. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. At Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. At Hardaway Missionary Baptist Church, 1177 Hardaway Church Road, Michigan City, Mississippi. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, John Edward Smith of Grand Junction; two sons, Byrom E. Smith Sr. of Grand Junction and Boris E. Smith Sr. (Carmen) of Memphis; three daughters, Windie Graham (Rufus), Doreater L. Smith, and LaTasha Smith, all of Memphis; one brother, Sam Webber (Claudette) of Warren, Michigan; two sisters, Lottie Kimbrough of Saulsbury and Shirley Mason of Grand Junction; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie Webber and Tommie White Hamilton Warren; a brother, Tomel Webber; and a sister, Lmyrie Johnson.
