Cards run for 442 yards in victory
Potts Camp football coach Chris Daniels called it his team’s “almost first complete game.” The Cardinals, on homecoming night Thursday, lit up the scoreboard in a 60-14 win over their visitors from Alabama, Tharptown. Jeffery Curry rushed for 221 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries to lead the way.
“We still have some things to clean up,” Daniels said, “but it was a great homecoming win.” Potts Camp backs ran for 442 yards and eight touchdowns.
Tylan Love gained 130 yards on just four carries, and he tallied two touchdowns. Malachi Brownlee also scored twice, and Jeremiah Evans had the other rushing touchdown.
The Cards were six of eight on two-point conversions, with quarterback Derrion Johnson keeping for two of those and Brownlee also cashing in two. Scoring the other two-pointers were Evans on a run and Braxton Totten on a catch.
Potts Camp (3-2) has a bye week before beginning Region 2-1A play Friday night, Oct. 16, at H.W. Byers.
