Two injured in U.S. 72 rear-end crash

Two drivers were taken to Methodist Olive Branch Hospital following a rear-end collision on U.S. Highway 72 that involved a tractor, a pickup truck and a sedan. The accident took place about 5:50 p.m. On Sept. 16, according to authorities.

Emergency personnel responded to the eastbound lanes of U.S. 72 near the Allen Road intersection, where two vehicles had collided.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol report, a white 2019 Ford F-150, driven by Sheila Shaw of Lamar, was exiting a private driveway or side road behind a tractor. Shaw had her hazard flashers activated as both the tractor and her pickup entered eastbound U.S. 72.

Moments later, an eastbound black 2013 Ford Focus struck the rear of Shaw’s pickup near Allen Road. The car was driven by Carly Bailey of Lexington, South Carolina.

Both drivers were taken to Methodist Olive Branch Hospital for evaluation and treatment. While their exact conditions were not released, authorities said their injuries appeared to be minor.

No other injuries were reported, and the crash remains under investigation.
