Smoke Signals
Domestic violence seems to have been the cause of a senseless death and complete destruction of a home in Byhalia. I have witnessed this firsthand and helped a few women escape a potentially fatal situation. Please contact someone if you are in this situation. There are resources available even if you believe your situation is hopeless.
Wednesday, I went to pick up an order at the warehouse for Byhalia Nutrition. The warehouse personnel almost always put the package in the car for me. Whenever possible, I get this done before the shop closes so one of the employees can unload the car. On this day, it was after hours and a car was parked in front of the door. I have to go in making it further to carry the box. I unlocked the shop door and opened the hatch of the car wondering how I was going to carry the box that far, but knowing it had to be done. A truck pulled up behind me and a teenage girl got out and offered to carry the box. I was so thankful. I did not get the young lady’s name, but I am so grateful she was there at that time and so glad she was willing to help!
Grass cutting was at least started on Wednesday night. The grass was so tall and so thick the seven-year-old mower struggled, but cut until it ran out of gas in the back yard. I had been assured it was full of gas. I did not check as I usually do. While I am able to put gas in the mower, it was much too far from where the gas is stored for me to carry it to the mower. It was too late to get someone to come to rescue, so the mower remained sitting where it stopped. As of this writing, the grass is not finished. It has been way too hot. I did remember later that a neighbor had borrowed the mower to cut an area of his yard. That was the reason for not having enough gas in it to complete my yard. At least the front yard is finished.
I know I have mentioned our neighborhood dog, Jack. He had a home but still liked to visit me and a few others. We lost him on Tuesday when he got left in a truck with no one realizing it and succumbed to the oppressive heat. We are all heartbroken. While this was a complete accident, please don’t leave your animals in a closed car in this heat.
The great-grandson is scheduled to have his dental work completed this week. Once he is healed from that, he can proceed to his open-heart surgery. As you probably know, insurance is such a hassle when you are simply trying to get a life-saving procedure approved.
One granddaughter has picked up my love for photography. A few months ago, she found an awesome deal on a nice camera in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The lady had bought it thinking she would make some great pictures of her kids. She quickly decided it was more camera than she would ever use and put it up for sale. It is perfect for use by “with love, by kaley.” Look her up on Facebook if you need pictures! You won’t be disappointed.
