Marshall County Tax Assessor Barbara Belfoure presents her report to the County Board of Supervisors on Monday, July 6.

A Growing County

County property valuations increase

Marshall County Tax Assessor Barbara Belfoure reported to the board of supervisors during the Monday, July 6 regular meeting that Marshall County has met its tax assessment roll milestones for three consecutive years without an extension. Representatives from the Mississippi Department of Revenue recently commended the office for this operational progress.

Following the report, supervisors approved the 2026 preliminary rolls. Total land parcels rose to 27,312, increasing real property valuation by $40 million to $443 million. The personal property roll also grew to 1,084 active accounts.

In other action, Belfoure was authorized to secure quotes for security cameras in the assessor’s office following recent workplace incidents.

Belfoure also announced a strict 30-day appeal window from the first Monday in July through the first Monday in August, eliminating year-round objections.

Supervisors also resolved several complex parcel adjustments submitted by Belfoure:

• Memphis Corner Blessings LLC: Reverted 240 acres mistakenly billed as developed property back to agricultural value.

• Team Waste: Voided an erroneous double-assessment.

• Parra-Bravo: Corrected a $408,000 key-punch error to the true $48,000 land value and issued a refund.

• Benson & Mullins: Removed structural valuations from bills after verifications confirmed the buildings were gone.
