Jimmy Louis Norton

Jimmy Louis Norton, 79, of Lamar, died May 8, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Solid Rock MB Church in Lamar where he was a church drummer. He was a mill worker at Ashland Coop.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on May 22 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on May 23 at Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland from 9-9:55 a.m. with services at 10 a.m. Rev. Steven B. Hoyle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He leaves a daughter, Vanessa Williams of Holly Springs; sons, Lavell Louis Norton of Ashland, Timothy Reaves, Frederick Hampton, William Earl Tate, all of Memphis; sisters, Charlene Harris of Ashland, Mattie Moore of Chicago, Ill., Gertha Norton of Nashville, Tenn., Melba Williams of Ashland; brothers, Lester North of New Albany, Cleveland "June" Norton of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Gertrude Norton; siblings, L.B. Norton Sr., Joe Norton, Cleave Norton, Lonnie B. Norton, and Allie Mae Maticic.
