Lady Cards finish 13-7
Coach Cory Gray said his Potts Camp softball team completely rose to the challenge this season.
The Lady Cardinals, who had the tall task of replacing four starting seniors from 2025, finished with a 13-7 record. They lost to Pine Grove by one run in each of their first-round Class 1A playoff games.
“I thought the girls played very well this season and seemed to improve with each game played,” he said.
Zoe Clark and Haley Ackerman moved to new positions, catcher and shortstop, respectively. Kenslie Allen, Shelby Hassell, Mackenzie Yeager and Aubrey Whaley had to fill positions vacated by members of that 2025 graduating class.
Alyssa Clifton was a workhorse on the mound, posting a 2.80 earned run average with 154 strikeouts. Coach Gray said standout offensive players were Clifton, Clark, Harlynn Stephens and Kaylee Howell.
“The pitcher/catcher tandem of Alyssa Clifton and Zoe Clark performed at a high level throughout the season,” he said.
The 2027 season will feature eight returning starters, with Ackerman graduating this year.
