First ride in a Tesla

My courageous young friend, 29-year-old Rebecca, fought bravely through months of cancer treatment. She wanted so badly to live for her two young girls. This week she lost that battle. Her family is devastated. Last summer she was helping to coach her daughters’ softball team. Realizing something was wrong, she did go to the doctor. She did all she could do in an effort to find a cure. It wasn’t to be. I pray her children can always remember how much she loved them. Ladies (and men), listen to your body no matter what your age and if you know something is not right, don’t give up until you have satisfactory answers.

Baseball, softball, and T-ball games are in full swing for Marshall County sports. This year we have faced some reorganization and some unique challenges. However, the kids are having lots of fun and hopefully learning life lessons along with the game. The Jamboree finished on Monday night and league games started on Tuesday night.

My cat who must be more than 12 years old, seems to be slowing down a bit. She still loves her splash of milk in addition to her dish of cat food, and she still insists on her daily pettings. Her gait is different, she sometimes simply falls, and she no longer springs onto furniture but climbs very gingerly. I will take her to the vet this week to get a diagnosis and hopefully not have to make a difficult decision. She was a rescue before she was fully grown. She has only been outside since I have had her when she accidentally got out the door a few times. I have had cats live to be more than 17, but she may not be with me that long. She is probably my last cat as it is getting harder for me to care for my animals. She has been a good one.

The things we see in a lifetime, on Thursday I had the fun of riding in a Tesla electric self-driving car. I knew they existed, but never expected to knowingly see one and definitely never thought I would ride in one. Thank you to my long-time friend for that opportunity. We rode around Byhalia with this car fully in control, navigating turns, obeying speed limits, and even backing into a parking place, I could use that in going to Georgia.

Blackberries seem to be in full bloom a bit earlier this year. Normally, I see them in the cool spell in early May but the few I have remaining are white with blooms and the cool spell is here. Not sure what this means except we will probably have blackberries ripen earlier than we have in previous years.

On a happy note, I found the $200 I had lost. I was right in that it had slipped out of my pocket when I pulled out my phone, but it was inside the house. Since taxes and insurance was due this month, I was definitely happy to find it.
