Freddie Calvert Johnson Sr.

Freddie Calvert Johnson Sr., 86 of Holly Springs, Miss., died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 6, 2026. He was born to Cecil Calvert Johnson and Pearl Whaley Johnson on December 3, 1939 in Manila, Ark. At a young age his parents separated, he and his siblings and his mother returned to her home in Potts Camp, Miss., where he attended Potts Camp School, graduating in 1957.

He received an Associate Degree from Northwest Mississippi Junior College, and went to Mississippi State University in the school of Civil Engineering. He was a Mississippi registered Land Surveyor. He served two terms on the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, as the land surveying member. Being appointed by Governors Waller and Finch.

He served in the Mississippi National Guard. Mr. Freddie was strong in his Faith. He owned F.C. Johnson and Sons Construction Company installing water and sewer pipes in developing subdivisions in a neighboring county for approx. 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Connie; a son F. Calvert Johnson Jr. (Lisa); a granddaughter, Brittney House (John Ross); a grandson, F.C. (Trey) Johnson III (Audrey); and two sisters, Bobbie Ann Young, of Bartlett, Tenn., Malinda Todd of Iuka, Miss.; and a brother, Cecil Wayne Johnson Sr., (Hazel) of Potts Camp; and five of the most precious great-grandchildren, Tristan House, Taylor House, Kendall Johnson, Ivy Johnson, Waylon Johnson, and loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, William Alan Johnson. A private family celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Any memorials can be made to St. Jude.
