Patriots enjoy four-win week

Thirty-five hits in three games meant complete domination of a district opponent last week by Marshall Academy.

The Patriots traveled to West Memphis Christian School in neighboring Arkansas Tuesday, March 24, and coasted to 33-7 and 11-1 District 1-3A wins.

MA racked up 17 hits in game one. Leading the way was Cohen Lundine, who went three for five with a grand slam. He had six runs-batted-in. Dom Green added two hits and two RBIs, Cash Redding two hits and five RBIs, and Colt Carpenter a hit and two RBIs.

Carpenter also recorded the pitching win.

In the second victory of the day, pitchers Reagan Allen and Gage Todd combined their efforts for a no-hitter.

Kyler Todd led the Patriots’ eight-hit attack by going three for three with a homer and two RBIs. Lundine was two for two at the plate with three RBIs.

The Knights made the trip east across the Mississippi River into Patriot territory Thursday afternoon, and MA coasted to a 14-1 win.

Marshall erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Carpenter enjoyed a twofor-two day from the batter’s box with three RBIs. Also connecting for two hits each were Redding, K. Todd and Green. The Patriots had 10 hits and also earned 11 walks.

Lundine started and got the mound victory. Landon Loper also pitched for the Patriots.

MA got its fourth win of the week Friday at home, 15-8 over Memphis University School. A pair of five-run innings, the third and fourth, highlighted the big night.

Redding drove in three runs. G. Todd had a two-forfour evening from the plate with two RBIs, and scored three runs. Also getting two RBIs each were Charlie Cross, Jaxson Rikard and Carpenter.

From the mound, Lundine threw three and a third innings. He struck out five and gave up five hits and no earned runs. Allen tossed in relief.

MA (11-13) was scheduled to host West Union on Monday of this week and district foe Lee Academy Tuesday. They will then visit Lee Academy in Clarksdale Thursday. Next Tuesday, April 7, they open a three-game district series versus Kirk Academy on the road in Grenada.
