Fundraising continues for Bryson a van

Family, friends, decorations, presents, so much food, travel, and the delight of children has once again made our holiday special. Maybe you have special family traditions or maybe you started new ones. My family has time-honored traditions but are never afraid to start new ones. My family was able to gather with many family members with only a few close ones unable to attend our Christmas Eve gathering. Fortunately, my daughters and daughter-in-law have taken over a great deal of the meal preparation. I am still able to prepare a few of the family favorites but each holiday, the younger generation is having to step up as I can’t hold up to cook as I once did. It takes a couple of days for me to recover. Eleven year old Olivia actually prepared most of mine with my supervision.

Ellen and family were able to travel home. It is always good to see them. I enjoyed every minute with them. It was definitely enjoyable to watch them in the kitchen with Ellen teaching Olivia how to cook certain items and Matt teaching Landon how to prepare other foods. These are life skills they will use for many years. Ellen, Matt, and kids also spent time doing cleaning chores that have become overwhelming for me. This was so appreciated.

In just a few days the year 2025 will close and become history. Was it all you hoped it would be? Some had a wonderful year. Others lost family and friends, their job, their homes, and possibly their health. I’ve spoken with several friends recently and we all wondered what happened to all the years from early childhood until now. Most of us never considered the possibility that one day we would be the elderly, but here we are. Our bodies are failing; hopefully, our minds are still clear.

Just a reminder that we are still raising funds to purchase a van for Bryson. There is an account at Bank of Holly Springs for easy donations. There is a GoFundMe account if you would like to use it. We have had fundraisers, raffles, sold tee shirts, and had generous donations. His Grandmother continues to make and sell various crafts. Bryson recently spent many scary days in ICU at Le Bonheur, but is home now with his family.

Friday night brought the beginning of whatever horrid illness has invaded the area. Again, I started with sneezing and then moved on to fever, chills, coughing, runny nose, and so very weak. After going to bed Friday night, I basically slept until noon Sunday with only getting out of when is was absolutely necessary. Other family members have had it too, so we have checked on each other by phone. It has been rough. Avoid it if you can.

May each of you have a blessed New Year.
