Gale Allen Goode

Gale Allen Goode, 83, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on November 11, 2025. He was born on May 6, 1942, to Van and Captola Rhea Goode. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 62 years, Tommye Ann Stone Goode; two sons, Patrick Goode (Leisa) and Stone Goode (Tonya); seven grandsons, numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bruce Goode.

Gale was an exceptional basketball player and cocaptain of the 1961 Potts Camp team that won the overall state championship. His jump shot from the “doll head,” or top of the key, was described as a beauty to behold. Gale loved to bass fish and participated in many St. Jude fishing tournaments. He was an avid Ole Miss fan. He loved watching football and old westerns. Gale never met a stranger and loved meeting and talking with people. He was a gifted salesman and worked for many years for Southern Tire Mart. He loved mowing and tilling with his Massey Ferguson tractor fondly known as “Fergie.”

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m. At the Holly Springs Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends was held from 12:00 p.m. Until service time. Burial followed at Cornersville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Randy Beckworth, Mike Cooper, Cody Gadd, Jack Gadd, Jacob Gadd, Brandon Kirk, Lance McCallum, and Mark Shaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Cornersville Community Church (297 Broadway Road, Potts Camp, MS 38659).
