Shelia Kay Cowan

Shelia Kay, 75, of Holly Springs, died November 7, 2025, after a brief illness. She was a member of Jones Grove Church where she served as the church announcer and was a member of the Pastors Aide Committee. Shelia was a retired nurse from UT Medical Center and later retired dietitian for Marshall County Correctional Facility.

Per, Shelia’s request, no services, and J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home handled her arrangements.

Shelia leaves her husband, James Earl Nabors; her only son, Jermaine Brown; her siblings, Luvine Martin, Allen Martin Jr., Virginia Martin Freeman, Donna Martin Stephenson Marion, Desmond Howell Sr., and Dornetta Howell Woods; her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also, her bonus children, Arthur “Reco” Cowan, Tameka Cowan, Cassandra Howell, Janae, Amanda and Sharon Nabors.

Shelia was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cowan; her siblings, Rosie Howell Talley, Frankie Howell Brown, Josephine Martin Barksdale, Isaac Martin; her parents, Allen Martin Sr., William Howell and Gustava Stewart Martin Howell.
