Softball theme for Olivia's 11th birthday

Thursday I was able to assist with registration at the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Kirkwood in Holly Springs. It was a beautiful day enjoyed by 31 golf teams and many volunteers. The sun was shining; there was a gentle breeze, and the temperature was perfect. Many friends were there participating and there was a bit of time to visit.

Saturday night I visited the great grandsons again. They are adjusting to their new home, and the baby is certainly growing. The older boys are loving their homeschooling and learning so much. Each one, of course, has their own distinct personality. The baby, of course, just wants a dry diaper, food, and a lot of cuddling. The middle boy (age 3) is a comedian all the way around. He is so sweet and loving, but says and does the funniest things as many do at that age. The oldest is six and a whirlwind of energy. He can make you tired just watching him, but is also very loving. He has recently discovered the love of pizza.

Did Fall finally arrive? Saturday was very warm, almost hot. Then the storm came with much badly needed rain. The storms seem to be a bit gentler than predicted. I have determined I had no real damage. Then Sunday morning, a jacket was appreciated when stepping outside.

Olivia had her 11th birthday party on Saturday. Of course, Mom went all out creating an awesome softball theme birthday party. There were lots of friends and lots of fun. One of her friends gave her a roll of bubble wrap to wrap herself in since she has had many injuries recently. Mom is thinking of getting her a shirt that says, “0 Days accident free”.

Life is overwhelming at times. There’s so much I need to do and less ability to do those things. I was hoping that with the knee pain gone, I could do more physically. The knee is willing and it is nice to have little to no pain there; however, nearly three-quarter of a century of living has taken its toll on the rest of the body. There are things I can still do such as cut the grass, drive, prepare simple meals, do light housework, care for the little dog, photography, and writing. Deep cleaning the house, walking longer distances, weed eating, and so many other things are no longer possible. I am grateful for what I am able to do, but miss being able to do those things I once could.

Many schoolmates have passed away or are unable to care for themselves. Those that remain are still friends. Growing up we never imagined being old. Maybe you have an older neighbor who, though fiercely independent, could use a bit of help with simple things.
