Thad Lawrence James Jr.

Thad Lawrence James Jr., 79, of Holly Springs, formerly of Columbia, died September 18, 2025, at his home. He attended Asbury UM Church and was a school teacher for the Marshall County School District.

A private memorial service will be held. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Celestine Faulkner James; daughters, Dorothy D. Swain of Ellenwood, Ga., Taveta James of Oxford, Cynthia Cox of Olive Branch, Camilla James of Memphis, Tenn.; son, Thad L. James III of Columbia; brothers, Sammie James, Romal James, both of San Diego, Calif., Nelvis Franklin of Columbia; four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Rucker, Robert Fortenberry, Willie Lee Fortenberry, Emma Jean Lundy, Betty Jean James, Thaddie Bell Johnson, Carolyn Pittman, Ersula Haynes, and Renold James.
