Derrick Gipson

Derrick Gipson, 45, of Oxford, died August 9, 2025. He worked as a cook at The Volta Taverna and Boure'.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 23 at TOMB Association Building in Oxford. Rev. Jeremy Gipson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abbeville.

He leaves his children, Ashanti Turnage (Dedrick) of Potts Camp, Emiyah Gipson of Coffeeville, Jamariun Gipson, Demariun Gipson both of Abbeville; father, Adell Ingram (Vanessa) of Aurora, Ill.; sisters, Josephine Townsend, Sharon Brown (Charles), Angelia Gipson, Tywanda Gipson, Latoya Mosley (Twan), Teresa Hickinbottom (Ray), Jasmine Williams, all of Aurora, Ill., Wanda Vaughn; brothers, Bryan Vaughn, Wallace Williams, both of Aurora; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Gipson; grandparents, Adolph and Lizzie Ingram and Hattie Mae Cook.
