Lady Patriots lose road contest
The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots fell behind early Thursday, Aug. 14, at Magnolia Heights and couldn’t bounce back.
As a tune-up for the start of District 1-3A play this week, MA dropped an 8-3 decision to the 4A Lady Chiefs in Senatobia.
Magnolia Heights scored two in the bottom of the first, two more in the third and then four in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Marshall got on the scoreboard with three in the top of the fifth.
MA had six hits. Aubrey Brigance and Kyleigh Million led the offense with two hits apiece. Gracie Rappa and Kendall Matthews each had a hit and a run-batted-in. Brigance also drove in a run.
Magnolia Heights connected for six hits, in addition to earning six walks in the fiverun win.
The Lady Patriots committed four errors in the field.
This is a busy week for the MA softball squad. The Lady Pats (4-4) opened district play Monday with their first home game of the season versus Kirk Academy. They traveled to face district opponent North Delta School on Tuesday. Next up was a non-district game at Bayou Academy on Wednesday and then a return to district competition on Thursday at West Memphis Christian School.
