Dorothy Jean Valentine

Dorothy Jean Valentine, 79, of Michigan City, died August 2, 2025, at her home. She was employed as a custodian at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Ind.

Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Aug. 9 from 1:30 p.m. until service at 2:30 p.m.

She leaves her sons, Devone Poplar of Michigan City, Mark Leon Poplar (Felicia) of Louisville, Kent., Tony Valentine (Ronda) of Indianpolis; daughters, Lisa Poplar of Michigan City, Nita Valentine, Lacheryl Dilworth (Jody), both of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, David Hudson (Elaine) of Grand Junction, Tenn., George Joy, Willam Joy (Iva), Terry Joy, all of Michigan City; sisters, Linda Hunt of Ashland, Mary Davis (Arthur) of Grand Junction, Johnnie Ann Joy of Michigan City, Annie B. Pugh, Alberta Hudson, both of Chicago, Virlene Tate (Charles) of Millington, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chess Valentine; brothers, Johnnie B. Hudson Jr., Otis Salton, Robert Poplar and Hugh Ellis Tate.
