Jasper "O Boy" Hughes

Jasper "O Boy" Hughes, 87, of Holly Springs, died July 18, 2025, at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital. He was a member of Free Branch MB Church where he was in the male chorus. He was a member of the Silver Stars Gospel Group. He was a carpenter at Smith Construction Company.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on July 23 from 1-5:30 p.m. and on July 24 at Free Branch MB Church from 10-10:55 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Pastor Laverne Malone will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He leaves his daughters, Angeles Woods, Dorlean Gibson, Carlean Crane, all of Holly Springs, Delois Duncan Jackson of Memphis, Tenn.; sons, Joe Stevenson, Butler Stevenson, both of Holly Springs; sisters, Lucy Boyd of Holly Springs, Lillian Davis of Friendswood, Texas; 16 grandchildren, and a number of greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florene Ludella Hughes; children, Jasper Hughes Jr., Ben James Stevenson, Ida Wright; siblings, Nathan Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Joe Nathan Hughes, Joe Lewis Hughes, John Lee Hughes, Annie Hughes Jones, Mary Dowdy, and Susie B. Vaughn.
