Smoke Signals and other news
There is something about sitting on your private deck of your cruise line and just watching the waves roll by, while enjoying the gentle breeze. Watching the Sheriff Boat escort you out of port and seeing other cruise ships in the distance is interesting. I had a handicap accessible cabin which meant I had a much larger cabin and bathroom. My scooter easily fit in. I am so glad I rented that scooter as there is a tremendous amount of walking involved.
It was a trip to remember. Day 1, we were treated to an all you can eat buffet and a private party at Café Tutu Tango in Orlando hosted by Herbalife Team Leaders. We spent the first night in a lovely hotel in Cape Canaveral. Soon after boarding the MSC Seascape, we were off to the buffet before setting sail. The kids loved the waterslides, kid friendly drinks, the buffet and the endless ice cream cones. They also had a great time with the friends they have made over the years on the Herbalife vacations.
Day 2 was spent at sea as we made our way toward the Bahamas. The kids swam and took repeated trips down the waterslide that went out over the ocean. Adults spent many hours on the beach chairs mostly in the shade with chilled drinks and gentle breezes with time also spent at the buffet. Dinner was in an upscale restaurant assigned to each guest. I was appointed my own waiter who was to cater to me and ensure I did not get any dishes that could possibly contain any of the foods I am allergic to. He suggested certain foods and made certain my cheesecake dessert had no strawberry glaze.
There was a medical emergency on board for a crew member. The ship had to stop to meet the water ambulance. We all said a prayer for whoever it was.
We woke the next day in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. The family wanted to spend the day at a waterpark on the island which meant finding transportation for my scooter. Ellen found a taxi that could accommodate us. The driver was excellent, the city was colorful and clean, and the waterpark met all expectations. It was definitely hot, but with plenty of opportunities to cool off in the water. While the food at the park was expensive, it was good. All staff were gracious and knowledgeable.
We set sail for a private island owned by the cruise line. It had been uninhabited and completely wild before they purchased it, but now was developed complete with housing for the staff, many beautiful beaches, and outdoor seating areas at the food courts. We had up close and personal encounters with sea gulls and pigeons. Kids and adults played in the water and tried to stay under umbrellas.
That night after another fabulous dinner complete with entertainment, we visited many of the onboard shops, explored the ship, and listened to the band before returning to our cabins to pack up and be ready to leave the ship the next morning.
I had never been on a cruise or left the country, but now I have done both.
