Dr. Ishmell H. Edwards

Dr. Ishmell H. Edwards, 75, of Holly Springs, formerly of New Albany, died June 22, 2025, in Cleveland. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Sigma Pi Phi Boule and Alpha Phi Omega. He was a retired vice-president of Rust College.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on July 1 from 1-4 p.m. and at Rust College W.A. McMillan Multi-Purpose Center from 5-7 p.m., and July 2 from 10-10:55 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Rev. Frederick H. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden.

He leaves his wife, Josephine Stennis Edwards; sons, Kevin Edwards (Tyrishemeka) of Jonesboro, Ark., Marcus L. Edwards (Anjell) of Alabaster, Ala.; mother, Nannie Lou Foster Edwards of New Albany; sisters, Sandra Johnson of New Albany, Naomi Bailey of Okolona, Sheila Fiddis of Holly Springs, Vernetta Bynum of New Albany, Mary Buggs of Tupelo; brothers, Gary Edwards of New Albany, Timothy Edwards of Cape Coral, Fla.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jonathan Edwards; brothers, Paul Edwards, Willie Joe Edwards, Joe Louis Edwards and Dennis Edwards.
