Ruby Stene Peeler Gatewood

Ruby Stene Peeler Gatewood, 72, of Waterford, died May 10, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Hamilton Chapel CME Church where she served on the usher board, president of stewardess board, Sunday school secretary, and church missionary. She was a vocational teacher at North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on May 17 from 3-6 p.m. and on May 18 at Hudsonville CME Church Family Life Center from 10-10:55 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Elder Bobby G. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She leaves her husband, Matthew Gatewood Jr.; sisters, Armie Jean Foster of Waterford, Voreece Rogers of St. Louis, Mo.; and brother, Larry Peeler of Waterford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Lillie Martin Peeler; and brother, Olridge Peeler.
