Smoke Signals and other news
Suddenly, it's Sunday night and I haven't written anything for my readers. You are all so kind to tell me to keep writing and that you actually enjoy these ramblings.
Prayers for our many friends and neighbors who have been affected by the devasting storms and flash floods of this week. I've spent more time than I care to think about in my “safe place”. My dog and inside cat weren't so excited about being there. The cat vanished and my little dog slipped out of his collar and hid under the bed. When I did go back to bed, he slept so close to me it was almost funny. He didn't even ask to go out the rest of the night and even declined when I asked if he wanted to go out.
My property was spared as best I can tell. My driveway has a new washed-out area, but that can be repaired. I can see that grass cutting will be in my schedule this week whenever the yard dries out enough.
On Saturday, my grandson and his wife held a “gender” reveal for their third sweet baby. While most of us were hoping for a girl, since there are already two big brothers, this will be another boy, and we are fine with that. Whatever God sends we will love. Both boys were happy as in their opinion, “Girls are yucky.”
Some family members were able to attend the Emory Fish Fry on Saturday night despite the weather. I was not able to attend but was fortunate enough to be brought a plate. It was yummy for sure. I rarely eat fried food due to the liver issues I have, but once a year it sure does seem worth it. This is an annual fundraiser for St. Jude Hospital.
Further test this week revealed I am still fighting an infection that I have had since my hospital stay a year ago. Finally, someone is listening to me, and I believe my specialist will figure this out. I have my own opinion but will see what the medical experts come up with.
On Wednesday Bryson's family took him to Dominos to receive the donation from the percentage of sales on March 24. He and his family were given a tour of the facility and presented the generous donation that will go toward the purchase of a handicap van.
There weren't many practices on the fields this week. We had one night when the fields were dry. It's not looking very good for Monday, but maybe a couple of nights will be possible. The league preseason jamboree starts on Friday at Sam Coopwood Park. Come out and cheer the kids on.
I am doing a little something this summer that I have never done and never expected to. It is the reason I had to get my passport. I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas with family. This should be an adventure of a lifetime. Hope they don't regret inviting me.
