Mattie B. Goodwin, 72, of Memphis, Tenn., died March 1, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 15 at New Beginning Church in Southaven. Burial was in Samuel Chapel MB Church Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her sons, Morris Smith of Memphis, Chester Smith Jr. (Denise) of Pullman, Wash., William Smith (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Nikita Confer (Cortray Pearson) of Southaven, Patrice Smith (Toney Polk) of Memphis; brothers, William Hunt Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., James Earl Hunt of Memphis; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Lee Cole, Lee Andrew Hunt, Johnny B. Hunt; sisters, Dorothy Mae Hampton and Bobbie Sue Hughes.
