Duo arrested in shooting at vehicles

Two people with an Ohio address were arrested and charged in connection with shooting into three vehicles, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

The first call from 911 regarding a shooting at a vehicle on Victoria Road came in at 7:42 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 28.

Someone in a red pickup had shot at a vehicle on Victoria Road driving children to Marshall Academy, the sheriff said.

Law enforcement immediately flooded the area after the initial call came in to 911, Dickerson said.

The vehicle was not struck.

A short time later a second call came in from a person whose vehicle had been shot at. The owner reported the shooting after returning home. The owner discovered a bullet hole in the front headlight, Dickerson said. The shooter vehicle was traveling north on Victoria Road when the shooting occurred.

Moments later a third vehicle headed north on South Red Banks Road was shot at from the red truck driving north on South Red Banks Road, Dickerson said.

Law enforcement were able to locate the red pickup on Hernando Road, where deputies were able to make a felony stop, the sheriff said. The suspects pulled over when they were surrounded by patrol cars, he said.

Two suspects with an Ohio address were apprehended and taken into custody, the sheriff said.

Donald Edward Hans II, 40, of 306 Spruce Street, Elyria, Ohio, and Julie Ann Lewis, 48, of the same address were booked at the Marshall County Jail in connection with the three incidents, Dickerson said.

A search of the red pickup yielded a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, an AR-15 rifle and narcotics, Dickerson said.

Hans was charged with five counts of drive-by shooting, felon in possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance enhanced with a weapon, the sheriff said.

Dickerson said Lewis was charged with the same counts as Hans except felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Both are being held in jail without bond.

Later investigators learned about a possible additional shooting the duo may be charged with in the Chattanooga, Tenn., according to information from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the sheriff said.
