Smoke Signals and other news
The cold has taken its toll on people, cars, animals, pipes, and much more. The warmer temperatures are welcome. I had no real issues except the air in my tires kept dropping lower. That was a minor nuisance. One trip to the tire store and that was resolved. My car was one that got covered with the “dust” that supposedly came in from Texas in a rain shower. When the temperatures warmed up enough, I did go to take it through the car wash since doing it myself is not possible anymore. The line was so long I chose to wait until next week. I’ve had this car for fifteen months and have managed to keep it relatively dent, ding, and scratch free. I stopped at a neighbors house on Friday and the dog they took in when it was “dropped” came running out to greet me. I made the mistake of speaking to her and she jumped up on the car. My heart sank as I heard the claws going down the side of the car. I believe it can be buffed out; if not, it will have to be repainted.
The replacement of my floors is complete. All had to be torn out and replaced except the kitchen and bathrooms. I’m not sure how they survived, but hopefully they are truly safe. Now the putting down of the trim and transition strips is near completion and cleaning, painting, rearranging furniture is in full swing. I pray that I get to hang around long enough to enjoy the improvements for a while.
My shoulder actually got worse this week. My physical therapist changed up some of my exercises and it seems to be helping. I am back to using ice packs frequently.
Olivia and Landon (grandchildren) are having a great time with the rare snow in southern Georgia. They have been out of school all week. Although they truly don’t own many winter clothes, they have managed to bundle up enough to spend hours building snowmen, having snowball fights, and even exercising in the snow.
The Profile Edition of the South Reporter comes out March 6. I have been completing interviews, making pictures, and writing articles. Everyone has a story. It may or may not be one that a person wants to share. I can only manage about one a week and have two more already lined up and a few more in mind. I have time for two more. If you know someone who lives in Marshall County that has a story to be shared, contact me as shown below. I can’t promise to get to very many but will do my best.
Bryson’s fundraiser will be March 22 in Byhalia. We are hoping to have several gospel groups, BBQ plates for sale, activities for the kids, some craft items, raffle items, and other activities as we continue making plans. If you want to make a monetary donation or items for a raffle, please contact me.
